Should Your 9th Grader Be Taking the SAT Biology Subject Test?

We know many students feel pressure to take the SAT Biology subject test in 9th grade, but here’s what you and your child should consider first:

1) THE CURVE IS TOUGH FOR 9TH GRADERS
Juniors taking the SAT Biology make the curve tough for our 9th graders. Most students find it easier to test well later in high school.

2) THERE'S A TON OF CONTENT TO MEMORIZE:
Many students need two biology courses in high school to cover the breadth of information on the SAT Biology Subject Test. Students are much better prepared for the SAT Biology after the completion of an AP Biology or Advanced Biology course.

3) THE MORE TEST-TAKING EXPERIENCE, THE BETTER:
In 9th grade your child isn’t as experienced of a test taker. Taking the SAT Biology later in high school not only benefits your child i n terms of the content they’ve learned, but in terms of their ability to effectively navigate a difficult exam.

Every year we prepare 9th graders for the SAT Biology (who rock it!), but we always start with diagnostic testing to determine a plan. It's so important to us that we do not waste your child's (already-limited) time and that we map out a customized plan that takes into account all of these factors. If you aren't sure if the SAT Biology is the right fit, we'll start with the diagnostic and go from there!
